c2 Healthy Recipes for the Family Dog

It’s not that dogs are not given human food. In fact, there are occasions when  dogs are given food that humans enjoy. Say for Thanksgiving or Christmas party, dogs are given the leftovers and that is basically human food. Dogs enjoy these changes. It is something different from their daily diet so it’s good for them as long as it is healthy food.

There are a few varieties of food that dogs enjoy a lot and that is also healthy for the dogs to eat. Like Turkey or Chicken Meat, Lean Red Meat, Carrots and Fish. Basically dogs need the same nutrients to grow and be healthy as we need. So dogs can eat all that we can, that is all the healthy food we eat.

Here are few healthy recipes that are good for dogs:

Vegetarian Dog Chowder: A healthy soup for dogs

Ingredients

2 small red potatoes chopped with skin
3/4 cup milk
3 cups fresh or frozen corn kernels
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 small diced potatoes
1 clove garlic, minced
3/4 cup cooked kidney beans
2 cups water
Salt and pepper to taste

Method

First boil potatoes with water slowly in a thick bottom pot. Once they boil lower the heat and cook for about 15 minutes or until soft and tender.

Now take these potatoes out of the pot and put aside also keep the water. Then, in a large pot heat the olive oil and add garlic and potato cook until the potatoes are transparent. Now you can add the corn and continue cooking for about five more minutes.

Then add beans and the potato water and boil. And then simmer them until the corn is tender.

Let the corn cook, place the potatoes and milk into a food processor and liquefy them. Pour into soup. And add salt and pepper to taste. This will make about 1 liter of soup.

Divine Doggy Dinner

Ingredients

1/4 cup cooked rice
1/2 pound ground beef or turkey, chicken, lamb
1 small potato
1/4 cup green beans

Method

First brown the meat in a pan. After being properly cooked, drain its fat. Now add the cooked rice and mix well. Keep it aside.

Then, cut the potato and beans into small bite-sized pieces and place them in a pot with water and boil. Now simmer the vegetables until tender say about 15-20 minutes. After it’s done drain it.

Then, add the cooked vegetables to the meat mixture. And it’s ready. However, let it cool before serving as it can burn dogs mouth when hot.
