One American invented snack food or dessert is known as the chocolate brownie or a brownie. It looks like a bar or a semi-flat square, which is made up of chocolate. It is baked in a sheet pan and looks somewhat like a dense chocolate cake. Chocolate brownies are mostly eaten with coffee or milk. The density of the brownies varies from fudge to cake like. They may also have various ingredients and toppings like cream cheese, frosting, nuts and chocolate chips. At times they are also served hot topped with whipped cream or ice cream.
History of brownies
One of America’s favorite treats, the brownie was born in the U.S. A. Though similar to cake and also baked in a cake pan, the brownie is categorized as a cookie instead of a cake. There are a variety of recipes both fudge types and cake types. The brownie received its name because of the dark brown color. It was first made in the early 20th century. The first chocolate brownie recipe was published in 1906 by Fannie Merritt Farmer, America’s most popular cookbook author.
