In France food plays an essential role in French society and if you are French, then breakfast, lunch and evening snacks and dinner are a must.

You might be thinking if French people eat so much, then the people must be fat or obese, but my dear friend let me correct you here. French people do eat more meals, but in less quantity and eating small frequent meals several times a day is an old trick for weight management.

The French cuisine history is as remarkable and interesting as the flavor and taste it embodies. French cuisine is the most famous cuisine around the world. French cuisine also has an elegant and pleasing culinary technique that is coupled with their style of preparation. In France the method of preparing food is steadily changing with lots of versatile quiche creations.

French people treat cooking as an art and thus they season almost all dishes very heavily. An example of it is beef which they usually prepare in red wine as it gives rich taste and flavor to the meat.

A huge amount of presentation and preparation is needed in French cooking. The medieval French people started the process of adding mustard seeds to meat preparation and at that time also the sauces they used were thick and with lots of seasoning added to it.

The French cuisine is divided into five different categories: Roasted grilled and fried food, Soups and vegetables, Cold dishes, Pastries and Sauces.
